While most people go their entire lives with healthy attractive finger and toenails, for some people this is not the case. If you have ever suffered with a nail infection that has caused an unsightly discoloration you know exactly what I’m talking about. Ringworm in the nails is a quite common fungal infection also known as onychomycosis. It is treatable and there is home treatment for ringworm.

Just by coming in contact with one of these conditions may not cause the infection on its own, if you have any kind of scratch or your hair is tightly braided, the fungus can easily enter into the skin. Once it gets under the skin it begins to grow quickly until it is treated.
Scalp Ringworm Symptoms
I would strongly advise anyone with toenail or fingernail infections to seek the advice of a doctor before attempting to treat. Only a doctor can test the infection and advise you in the proper course of action.

Yeast Infections - This is the more common causes of toenail and fingernail infections that cause ringworm. What is so strange is that these yeast organisms are also the same things we use to make bread and beer. Who would have thought it? There is treatment available to easily heal this form of ringworm.

Acapulco
Cabo San Lucas
New resorts keep popping up in Cabo San Lucas but the town still maintains it’s old world charm. Those looking for fine dining, boating and clear, calm waters for taking a dip in the ocean or boating will love Cabo San Lucas. This area of Mexico’s Pacific coast is a well-kept secret so it’s not overcrowded with tourists…yet. It’s a great place to visit and if you’re thinking about a Mexican vacation rental, Cabo San Lucas is a prime location. For a Mexican vacation more heavily trafficked by tourists though, head towards San Jose el Cabo. You’ll find plenty of resorts and much more tourist action.
Saprophytes - Saprophytes also cause fingernail and toenail infections, although they are not as common, and usually occur by accident. Saprophytes are present in the everyday atmosphere. You find them living in musty, damp organic material and they only cause an infection by chance contact. Most of the time they never cause a skin infection. Another aspect is that there is no testing for onychomycosis against them.

“Where should I go when I visit Mexico’s Pacific coast?” you say. Glad you asked!

Dermatophytes - dermatophytes are actually fungi which grows under your hair, nails and skin. Dermatophytes are what cause basic skin infections such as athlete’s foot and ringworm. But, they can also cause infections under your toenails and fingernails.

Over the counter treatment for ringworm will usually always work if done correctly. Use a shampoo that contains selenium sulfide (2.5%), or zinc pyrithione (1-2%). Most doctors advise doing this once a day. Some of the more common over the counter treatment for ringworm shampoos that contain these ingredients include Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment, Selsun Blue, and Selsun Gold for Women.
